We are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is a nine volume book series that starts out with Meldorath, a mysterious man who attacks the castle of the Lord of Hillport, a small town on the southern coast of Voulhire, for a reason that is revealed later in the book. The book consists of different universes-the cosmos meaning the physical world- the world we know as is;The Caromentis- the magical world as mentioned in the first volume of the series. What possible connection there might be between the coexisting different universes is slowly revealed through the book.

Voulhire is a peaceful and flourishing society, but that wasn't always the case -and King Saint Idus is largely revered to be the man who united Voulhire to what an admirably built society it is now. No one's ruling is perfect and King Idus was not an exception. Even though he is worshipped on par with the gods by most people, there was still an enemy that devotedly built its strength on the sole motto to destroy the world that King Idus built . That is the Riva Rohavi. They were always hidden and moved in small groups, but they resided admidst the general public's mind as a fear. Voulhire was growing, it was at the peak of what they called "a golden age" and peace almost became an established thing. Almost.

Matthew Tysz introduces the protagonist, Galen, who is a victim and a survivor of a long lasting war, fleeing from his homeland-The Lands Of Princes, in a hope to find a survival in Magnum Caelum ,a beautiful city on the southern coast of Voulhire, where his uncle was a renowned blacksmith. Galen was eager to learn, a humble and a sensitive man. The story progresses as he continues on his journey to discover various things about him and his surroundings.

I rate this book a solid four out of four stars. The reason behind this is that the book was very well written and edited. The writing style of the book is very immersive and keeps the reader's interest piqued. It builds up the momentum and suspense as it moves on while slowly revealing clues. Never did I once feel bored while reading the book, it is very engaging and got this unique style that goes into the details yet keeps the story crisp and neat. I found no notable negative aspect that I would bring attention to that might reduce the rating I gave.

As I mentioned earlier this book is the first part of nine volume series, implying it is not a standalone. If you are looking for a book that ends in itself and doesn't extend, the this might not be best suited for you. But with that being said it is definitely not a reason to turn away from choosing to read this book. It is a great read if you are a one who enjoys reading about magic, action and something that is built on existing principles of the world but with an added essence of fantasy.
