Sounds like a very engaging story, but abrupt ending is not something I would appreciate to be frank. Thank you for a great review!

I understand that. It's one you'd almost need to go right to the second book to enjoy. Thanks.

My head is coming up with ideas on what the Escapement might be. When I read that Katie is investigating Riker Industries for the disappearance of her brother, I imagined them as a pharmaceutical company that's experimenting on people. I guess I'll have to read this one to find out how wrong I was. Your review is wonderful, I enjoyed reading it!

That's an interesting guess. I'll refrain from telling you how close or far away you are. Happy reading!

I don't mind cliffhanger endings as long as they are part of a series. Judging from the hints you gave, it seems like The Escapement has something to do with a survival experiment of some sort. But I know I will have to read the book to find out.

Thank you for an intriguing review.

What an unfortunate ending! I am always frustrated when a book is so great and then the ending is a disappointment. I am intrigued to know what happens, but I will most likely shy away from this book as I hate cliffhanger endings. Great review.

I don't mind them if I can go right on to the next book. I'm not a patient person when it comes to endings, though. Thanks!
