Lord Meldorath is arrested on the order of King Wilhelm. The news circulating after the arrest is that Meldorath has been executed for his crimes under Voulhirian law. However, there are whispers that this great mage may not have been executed after all. That he may have been merely imprisoned for life. It is not news that King Wilhelm and Meldorath used to be close friends. And so that fact fanned the flames of the atrocious rumors. But what if that is true? What if like a phoenix, Meldorath will rise from the ashes of his former glory and break the chains of captivity that rumors say binds him? How will Voulhire survive his wrath if it turns out that he is still alive?

Oblivious to the rumors that trouble the hearts and minds of Voulhirians, Galen seeks refuge in the Kingdom of Voulhire. Knowing that he is now heir to the property of his uncle, he books a seat in a boat sailing for Magnum Caelum, a small town in Voulhire to escape the troubles of war that has plagued his own country for 20 years. Will his dreams and hope for a normal life in Voulhire be cut short by the possibility of a supposed monster coming back from ‘death’? Is his trip from his war-torn country to Voulhire a classic example of jumping from the frying pan into the fire? What adventures await our young and naïve Galen?

We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies by written by Matthew Tysz is the first novel in the We Are Voulhire series, a series with nine books in it. I love so many things about this novel. The first thing that I should say before going into my likes and dislikes if there are any, is that it is a fantasy fiction novel.

One of the features that I liked very much is the two perspectives from which the author tells the story of Voulhire. He shifts between telling parts of the story from Galen’s POV and a third-person POV for the rest of the characters. At first, I was confused and had a difficult time adjusting, brain-wise, to the change from Galen’s POV or chapters to the second. However, as time went on, I began to flow and understand all that was written without a problem.

Another thing that I love is how exceptionally well edited the text appeared. The grammar was impeccable and punctuations were perfectly placed. A book that is interesting and entertaining is a good book. But a book that is interesting, entertaining, and devoid of errors is a great book. We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies is a great book.

We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies is a work of pure art. The way it was written shows that Matthew Tysz gave a lot of thought into the writing of the story. I will never want to take back the hours I spent reading this novel. I liked all of We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies. However, the one thing that gets the biggest chunk of my love (and is my most liked feature) is the reference guide or glossary at the end of the novel. It helped me understand strange words and terms that I encountered in the story. It even prepared my mind for terms that I will come across in sequels in the series.

I did not see anything that I disliked or abhorred in the book. So I give it 4 out of 4 stars for its perfection and appeal to me. I am an avid fan of good fantasy novels. So I recommend We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies to fellow fans who love great and interesting fantasy novels.
