Gilded Feathers is about a young woman named Collette Evans, Cole for short. She is a second year college student in Toronto, and studies art. Due to her grandfathers influence, Cole grew up loving Astronomy so on a whim decided to take History of the Modern Universe as an elective. Her Best friend Chloe Collins also took the class and both are quite happy to find out that their professor, Jamie Thompson (A.K.A Mr. Universe,) is a total hottie.

It is in that class that she meets the tall, dark, and tattooed Drex. Despite a little hiccup with the sexy professor trying to seduce Cole and turning out to be a real jerk, Drex and Cole cannot deny their strong attraction and engage in a relationship that's out of this world, literally.

After overhearing a heated conversation, Cole confronts Drex about what she heard and Drex reluctantly confesses that he is from another planet called Daysiine. Hes called a Guardian, for the Realm of Parth, and was sent on an extended mission to Earth posing as a college student to fit in. Cole has fallen in love with him though and doesn't waver from Drex with the exception of a small freak out that only lasts long enough for her to realize that when Drex was arguing on the phone he admitted that he was in love with her.

Due to complications of breaking the secrecy of his being an alien, Drex has to take Cole to meet his Grandfather on his home planet. While on Daysiine, Cole discovers that she recognizes the face of a statue carved to look like one of their shamans from her nightmares, Even better, she then realizes that the man that always saves her in said nightmares, looks exactly like Drex. Oh and those nightmares, they're actually memories.

Gilded Feathers is a science fiction with quite a bit of paranormal romance thrown in for good measure. It is the first book of a series and I have to say that I loved this book and I cannot wait to read the next one, its exciting and the romance is a bit steamy. J. Woods has masterfully chosen her words to create an exciting story that draws her readers in. I laughed at quite a few of her quips between characters. Excellent read and excellent writing skills, I give this book a 3 out of 4 stars.
