Review of Steel Reign: Flight of The Starship Concord
Steel Reign: Flight of the Starship Concord by Braxton A. Cosby is an action-packed sci-fi novel starring Steel Reign — ex-spy and thief to now bounty hunter who is on a heroic mission. When Steel finds out his half sister Olia is in danger, he embarks on a dangerous mission to save her. He teams up with Gifford, a young computer genius who can basically hack into anything or anywhere, and together they voyage on a dangerous mission to steel the Concord, one of the greatest spaceship’s in the galaxy, and use it to rescue Olia. Along the way, Steel and Gifford make more alliances and the team do all they can to make it to the Eclipse where Olia is held. But with a bounty on his head, a deadly viral disease coursing through his blood and trouble following him wherever he goes, the mission seems merely impossible for Steel.
I really enjoyed this book. It was action packed from the start, filled with plot twists and turns, adventure and good humour. The plot was good and captivating. The story had intriguing and intricate characters as well. At first, I questioned Steel's motivations, as it seemed like they didn’t match up to his character. But as the story went along, it was smoothened out and made much sense, making me like Steel more. In addition, I liked how he was flawed, and unlike James Bond, not able to fluidly wiggle himself out of any situation. I like how he was tactical at some parts, but his spontaneity and lack of a solid plan lead to failure at others. The story was told from one point of view, which was good and made us readers able to connect to the story better. In addition, I liked the secondary characters as well, Gifford for example. My favourite thing about this book was the realness of the characters. They could banter about, but there were still deeper things to them, it wasn’t just like a comedy show, the humour was natural. I didn’t really have any dislikes.
I rate this book a 4 out of 4 stars. The book was captivating, action packed and had a good plot with good characters. In addition, the writer had a unique sense of style but the book was well edited, enabling it further to get a 4.
This book would appeal mainly to lovers of sci-fi, as the book is grounded in sci-fi nomenclature and takes place in space. However, the book can be enjoyed by almost anyone, and is great for both young and old.
In summary, Steel Reign: The Flight of the Starship Concord by Braxton A. Cosby is a great sci-fi novel. It’s a great story with a great plot and intricate characters, and I highly recommend it you.
