Review of Rise of the Savior: Acolyte of Truth
Can you imagine yourself in a situation where an unexpected event changes your life? The book Rise of the Saviour: Acolyte of Truth written by Antoine Bonner was about a teenage girl who found herself in a life-changing situation.
Amanda was the first child of Logan and Jean. She was from a loving family. She had a younger sister named Saira. Saira was always acting strange. She talked about seeing a deity, never showed emotions, and said things wiser than her age. One day, Amanda went to her karate tournament with her father. While coming back, they had an accident. When she regained consciousness, she found herself in a hospital bed. But before then, strange things had happened to her. That experience made her understand what her sister had been saying all along. She also developed powers that cost her dearly. As her powers cost her so much, will she come to appreciate or hate it? Will she use it for good? How did she handle this situation that had changed her life forever?
This book was very interesting to read. It was a fictional story. But, it was about love, sacrifice, loyalty, and heroism. Amanda was one of the characters I liked in the book. Despite having a strange younger sister who was very much smarter than her, she didn't get jealous of her nor did she develop hatred for her sister. Even though her sister behaved like a robot with no feelings, she didn't ignore her and she didn't treat her like she was weird. As written by the author, anger was the only negative feeling she had for her sister because she didn't love her as she did. And this anger lasted mere minutes. Instead, she did her best to protect her sister. That was true loyalty which I admired.
What I disliked in the book was the way the fight scenes were described. I was lost most of the time. The actions or fighting skills and powers of the characters were just too confusing for me to imagine right. I ended up reading some of the scenes like a text. Except for the above, I liked everything else about the book. The characters were all fascinating in different ways. The scenes were plotted so well that it felt like I was watching a movie.
I found no errors in the book. It was exceptionally edited. The book was never boring. It was so interesting that when I started reading, I didn't stop until I finished the book. Some actions stood out in the fight scenes that kept me interested and not completely lost. I thereby rate it 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend it for lovers of Sci-fi books.
