The Devil Pulls the Strings by J. W. Zarek is an exciting story filled with magic, supernatural beings, and mystery. Boone Daniels is suddenly thrust into a world, like something out of his wildest dreams, when his friend Flynn's dying wish is for Boone to travel to New York to play a gig with Flynn's band. On his way to meet the man in charge of his gig, he meets Sapphire, and his world turns upside down from there. Sapphire and Boone quickly discover a world full of supernatural beings, secret societies, and magic. In order to stop the devil from being summoned and New York from being destroyed, Boone and Sapphire must travel through time to find Paganini’s sheet music and complete the ritual.

The author does an incredible job of immersing the reader into the world. All the characters are written in detail and everything is explained in a way that makes it easy for the reader to understand. I also love that by the end of the book, everything is wrapped up, so the reader is not left with any unanswered questions. On the other hand, the story ends in a way that the story could still continue in another book with more adventures.

I honestly don't really have anything negative to say about this book. I will mention that there is some explicit language that is used, which might be a problem for some. However, the language was minor and was not frequently used, so I had no issue with it. The author can also get very detailed with the explanations of some things, which might be annoying to some, but again, I did not have a problem with this. Other than that, I don't have anything negative to share.

Overall, I would rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. The book was very enjoyable to read and seemed to be edited very well. The book contains enough action and mystery to keep the reader wanting to read without going so overboard that you get lost in the details.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fantasy, supernatural, and adventure books. This book also contains a good amount of mystery, so anyone who enjoys mystery books would enjoy this as well. Other than the occasional explicit language, there is nothing inappropriate in this book, so I can recommend this to both teens and adults.
