Red Rising by Pierce Brown

Post by fitzthegreat »

I highly and strongly encourage everyone to read Del Rey's newest and latest top market of the year, Red Rising by Pierce Brown. This book already has a movie deal with the producer of the film "World War Z" and it is supposed to be the next Hunger Games (although my expectations are in hopes that it proceeds past this). It's a daring combination of Ender's Game meets "Game of Thrones" with a family resemblance to the Hunger Games. An excellent and daring read in the first of three by Pierce Brown. Follow Darrow and his quest through Mars.

Yes. I have also heard of this book, and mostly very positively. I am hoping (when I read the book) that it will be a book worthy of the attention.

I'm a about half way through this book. There are fantastic portions and somewhat lagging portions. I will say that your imagination will definitely be taken on a wild ride with all the visuals, interesting language and brutally direct correlations to society.

A really well written sci Fi book! The development of the protagonist is sound and relateable. I love books with a romantic component in it, and this one did it just right.

Yeah, I skimmed through some reviews on Goodreads before reading the series that also compared it to those books. One even said that Hunger Games has nothing on it, which gave me a lot of hope for it, but honestly I was disappointed and IMO it's not worth the high praise. It just didn't make me care about the characters as much as other sci-fi/YA novels have.

I loved this book. I just bought the second one in the series and can't wait to read it.
Question though: this book is deemed "Young Adult", but I am not sure I would put it into that category. What do you think?

I read the series a while ago and I absolutely loved the first book Red Rising. I thought the book really brought out each character. Although I was pretty disappointed with the rest of the series. I thought the final book was very rushed and thrown together.

Red Rising is one of my favorite books ever. I read it last year and have recommended it non-stop. I read it via Kindle but love it so much I want a physical book to own. Bloody damn is one of my new favorite phrases.

The most amazing book i've ever read. This author created an entire hierarchy, an entire solar system, with just his words. i could not help but fall in love with darrow's character, his drive, commitment, his cold ferocity. a fabulous character that wholey represents the rising. truly the leader of the oppressed. i hear this may become a movie and honestly, im so excited. i cant hype this book anymore, fans of rick riordan or john flannagan, youve found your next read, trust me, my goodmen. break the chains!
