The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien

I currently just finished the first book in this trilogy. Wow. I have mixed emotions about it. First of all, the whole concept of this book is brilliant. How did J.R.R. Tolkien come up with this? Second, I found his writing wonderful, but also a little wordy. He talks a lot about the land, but you (the reader) have no idea where these places are located unless you look at the map provided, and in some cases the places aren't on the map. That was probably the most frustrating thing about the book. I can't wait to start the second book! I love how Tolkien keeps you on the edge of your seat.
