We are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is a fictional story that describes life in the various sectors of the land of Voulhire. Hillport is one of the regions that host most of the events in the story. Lord Orlin and Meldorath, who ruled Hillport earlier, conducted ills that broke the townspeople and its economy. King Wilhelm, Voulhire's ruler, sent Lord Eldus to restore Hillport from its misfortune. However, Lord Eldus, his family, and the people of Hillport faced a significant threat from the Riva Rohavi, a terrorist group that had been dormant for a while. The residents of Hillport were also still traumatized by the acts of Meldorath, and everyone was afraid that he might cause them more harm. However, leaders maintained that he was dead and he would never resurface to harm anyone again. On the other hand, another main character called Galen arrived from the war-torn Land of the Princes and settled in Magnum Caelum to inherit his uncle’s forging business. In the process, he met Rowan, who led him on an adventure that made the two men meet a monk called Demetrius to help them uncover the mysteries of a rock that they acquired.

I enjoyed the whole story. The author arranged it into various simple parts that made it easy to read and understand. Rowan made it more interesting because of his cheeky and adventurous character that made Galen, who was naïve, exposed to Voulhire. Their encounters were fascinating because they revealed how an individual’s perspective of the world changes when exploring with an individual who is more open-minded. I loved how the relationship between Galen and Rowan bloomed into a friendship. I also enjoyed the introduction of Demetrius into the lives of Galen and Rowan. The dynamics of the relationship between the three men were fascinating. The conversations between Rowan and Demetrius were amusing. I delighted in how they were always trying to outshine each other in trivial aspects. Their dialogues created light moments in the story. I also loved how the writer used vivid descriptions in portraying the differences between the different regions of Voulhire. He painted a mental image of the variation of life in those areas.

I did not find anything negative about the story. It was captivating, unique, and an uncomplicated read. I enjoyed the characters and the build-up of events through the narrative.

I give this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars because it was edited exceptionally well. It was also a fascinating story.

I would recommend this book to people who enjoy reading fictional stories. They will enjoy reading about life in the land of Voulhire. Those who love politics will love the scenes in Soulhire where there are different dialogues between high profile people in the government and their decision-making process. It will also interest them to discover how their political choices led to the events in Voulhire. Those who enjoy stories with supernatural events will relish the magical acts of Meldorath, the mages, and other characters in the narrative who possess such powers. The narration will interest anyone who wants a read to enchant their mind.
