Valoria is set in the fantasy world of al kunooz with three kingdoms: Valoria, Intellectus, and Tranquilium. A peace treaty is made between Valoria and Intellectus after a dreadful war in which both kingdoms faced severe casualties. To prevent further suffering and ensure peace, the kingdoms agreed to be bonded through marriage. The heirs of both Kingdoms are betrothed while they are just in cradles.

Princess Zeina of Valoria, the protagonist of the novel, is a spirited girl. She is to marry Prince Adam of Intellectus, but this duty is a thorn in her throat. Zeina is flabbergasted when her brother Zain's marriage is three years advanced, and her marriage will be after her brother's. The novel's plot goes on to reveal Zeina's dilemmas with Adam and the secrets of the past war.

Tayma Tameem has written a splendiferous fantasy novel. The words strung in the writing were posh, and the style was brilliant. The narrative phraseology was simple and easy to follow. Its comprehensive and direct manner kept me engaged. While pursuing the novel, I was immensely fascinated by the plot, and was prompted to unravel the secrets of Al Kunooz.

Each scene was picturesque. They were grounded within their surroundings. I was never left floundering as to the setting. Apart from visual description, other senses were also evoked. For instance, the thudding of the book, the smell of parchment, and the feel of the book's binding were artfully described to make a particular scene in the Library feel real.

Each chapter is narrated from a distinct character's point of view and tells a part of the story from their perspective. This made me wonder how another character's point of view would twist the chapter.

The novel was humorous. There were several rib-tickling scenarios. The childish squabbles between Zeina and Adam, and Zeina's unreasonable crossness with "that pretty-boy" were amusing.

The characters were engaging and easy to empathize with. The novel is the first book in the five installments of the sequel Heirdom. I wanted to read the other novels just to know how the characters would fare.

The negative aspect about the story is the naming of the characters. They all have similar names that begin with the same letter. The names of all the members of valoria begin with z and the members of Intellectus, A. It is so very confusing. Even the author was confused once and misplaced the names.

I rate the book 4 out of 4 stars. It was an awesome page turner. I read the novel in a single day. Reducing the rating would be an injustice. I recommend the book to those who love to escape to a land where kings and queens reign; it is the book for anyone who loves good-humored fantasy novels.
