Being royals are paying more than what it takes. Dealing with strict rules, tight schedules, and being involved in political affairs does take a great sacrifice. Having royal blood is not always as lucky as it seems. They need to put their people first to build a great kingdom. Valoria: Heirdom by Tayma Tameem is a fiction storybook comprising 24 chapters. It is the first book of the series by the author. It brings the reader about the sacrifices, family love, bravery, and pain that they need to endure while ensuring peace.

This book begins with the character of Zeina, the only daughter, and the second child of King Ziad and Queen Zainah of Valoria. She has an older brother, Prince Zain, and two younger brothers, Prince Zacharia and Prince Zaki. They have a lovely family bond. Zeina is a girl that is full of curiosity about life outside of the palace. Being a girl full of wild spirit makes it hard to hold herself to be a behaved "real" royal princess. Despite her struggles of accepting Prince Adam of Intellectus as her future husband, she needs to deal with the unseen enemies that threaten her, her family, and her kingdom. How is she going to manage her love life and her duty as a princess as well as the future queen? How would all the three kingdoms find peace despite the dark history of the war between them?

There are a few things that I loved about this book. First, I loved how the author elaborated on the character of Zeina. Zeina gives a good motivation for women, especially the youngsters to be a great version of themselves. The author elaborated on Zeina’s character as a full-spirit girl who was not afraid of any challenges that she faced. There were many parts where Zeina dealt with arrows and swords. Even her instructor, Mr. Yunus was amazed by her fighting technique even though it was not as great as the armor. She was also a smart and kind-hearted princess which seems to be a good package to be an example. Second, the author gives a balance to the story between romance and politics. There was a light romance storyline between Zeina and Adam, the same with the political matters discussed in this book. This gives the readers pleasure to read without having complicated thoughts while reading it. Third, the author also focuses on all the characters by highlighting them in each of the chapters. It widens the reader’s perspective in understanding each of the characters deeply. Fourth, I think the presentation of this book is quite appealing. With animation as the book’s cover, it attracts the readers to dig more about this book.

However, there are two parts that distracted me when I read the book. First, the author used the same names for different characters. I was aware that it was normal for royals to use the same names or titles but sometimes it makes me confused. For instance, the names of Amber were used for two different characters which are Princess Amber and Queen Amber. Queen Amber is the late grandmother of Princess Zeina while Princess Amber is the princess of Intellectus. Since Princess Amber is going to be the Queen of Valoria once she married Prince Adam, it makes me confused whether they were the same person. Also, the names of Zacharia were used for the late grandfather of Princess Zeina, and for Zeina's younger brother, Prince Zacharia. A few times, I need to get back to the previous part to search for the character positions. Second, the storyline became too fast for the last few chapters. The way the author wrote about the real traitor was too direct for me and there was no shocking moment. It can be seen in chapter 22, where the truth behind all the things that happened was fully known. I thought the readers were told to bring all the clues from the previous chapters altogether and assume who was going to be the real traitor. However, this chapter seems too packed with explanations of the truth. I feel less satisfaction while reading this part where it is the most waiting part in this book. I tried to find errors but did not find any. Hence, the book was professionally edited.

Therefore, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I give this rating because the flaws do not affect my enjoyment and excitement to keep reading it. I did have a great moment sitting down and letting myself be drawn inside the story. There were no profanity details, so it is suitable for teenagers. This book is a great book to put on the shelves. I recommend this book to people who love reading fairy-tale books.
