A coup, shortened from coup de tat, is a sudden, violent, and illegal seizure of power from a government. The title of the book, The Elf coup, probably tells you everything you need. We start the book to large open fields and the town of Amberstone in south Kansas. What could the elves have gone there to find out? In the North pole, there are disgruntled elves everywhere due to the changes made by Santa Nicolas in the first book,The Elf Brief. Though it may seem everything is working out on the surface, the elf departments are in a mess due to the elves 'straying' from what was assigned to them when they first got to the North pole. How will public enemy number one, Noel Night, face up to the elves coming after him?

The author of the Magi Charter series, Jordan Davis, is a master of incorporating some real-life experiences with the fantastic world of the Magi Carter series. The lessons you can derive from the books as an individual are all mainly positive. The most prominent, having the courage to pursue what you're interested in doing. We all have what we do for a living and what drives us in life. Not everyone dares to go after their dreams and end up being bogged down by what we are doing. I admire the elf, Noel Night, for being courageous enough to pursue his interests. It led to changes in how the North pole is managed.

In this book, the Directory, the underground council of the heads of the elf departments. They see the changes in the North pole as unnecessary, blaming Santa Nicolas and Noel Night. In my opinion, they are a group used by Mistletoe Green to pursue his own goals. They remind me of the people or bosses that drag you back when you climb up the ranks. We all need direction in the jobs we do when we're just starting.

I rate the book 4 out of 4 stars. the reason for this rating is my enjoyment in reading the series and the fact I found no pressing issues in grammar or spellings in the book.

This book can be recommended for all ages. The lessons from the book that can be applied in everyday life and situations we might find make this a well-rounded book. Many of us can relate to the issues this book can encourage us to keep bravely moving forward in our pursuits.
