Rise of the Saviour: Acolyte of Truth, written by Antoine Bonner, is an urban fantasy that describes the transformational journey of a normal young lady, Amanda. The heroine is just 18 years old, and all she wants to do is explore the world and engage in karate; however, that is not her destiny. Amanda is the daughter of Logan and Jean; they are great parents. She has just one sibling, a younger sister named Saira. Saira behaves in a weird manner; she does not show emotions and acts like a robot. Saira always claims that a deity is speaking to her.

One fateful day, Amanda and Logan have a terrible accident on their way back from karate practice. Amanda is saved by a strange being; the being reveals itself to be her deity. As well, she meets her kundalini. She is declared to be the acolyte of truth, and her powers are revealed to her. On the other hand, Jamie, the doctor that is treating Logan, is approached by his deity and kundalini. He is declared to be the acolyte of death. Jamie's son has cancer and is about to die. Jamie is given the power to keep his son alive by killing other children. Amanda must save the world from Jamie!

This book is the best book I have read this year! The author's storytelling technique is very commendable and unique. The deities, kundalini, realms, and powers are blended together to make for a very unique story. This story is fast-paced, and I really enjoyed it. The theme of love is strongly reflected in this novel. This is seen in Amanda's love for her kid sister, Saira. Saira has an annoying behaviour, but Amanda still goes above and beyond to protect her. As well, love is expressed by the villain, Jamie. It is his love for his son that drives him to do horrible things. The language used in this book is succinct and delightful.

The character development is impressive. At the beginning of the story, Amanda is a selfish teenager, who wants an easy life. At the end of the story, she is a hero, who wants to protect her family and the world. The dialogues between the characters are believable and realistic. There are a lot of fantastical relationships in this novel, such as the relationship Jamie has with his deity and kundilani. However, Antoine skillfully ensures that the reader accepts and believes in the relationships (suspension of disbelief). This book is professionally edited; I found only one error in it.

I did not find any drawbacks in this book; hence, I rate it 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend this novel to people that love science fiction and urban fantasy.
