The world of fantasy is full of unpredictable and fascinating moments. Fish Wielder by J.R.R.R. (Jim) Hardison follows the story of a hero, who has to stop an evil force, but the story carries a fun narrative. This is the journey of supreme and mighty Thoral, who goes through a list of endless surprising events after swearing to end the Bad religion. The plot is happening and surprising till the very end.

The first introduction of Thoral is in an inn sipping warm ale that he hates. He’s a renowned barbarian who dresses like a pirate, has unique violet eyes, chiseled features, muscular body, carries a glorious broadsword, Blurmflard, and, rides Warlordhorse who is excellent at smelling things. Bradfast, an adorable koi fish, once rescued by the barbarian, takes Thoral on a journey full of action and shocking revelations. Thoral fights the evil forces off and gives Elfrod, the king of elves, his word to defeat the Bad Religion for once and all. Nalweegie, the elf princess, hopelessly falls for Thoral and takes an oath to follow him everywhere. The principal mission of this companionship is to stop Bad Religion from eating the Pudding of Power so that the evil does not win. Amongst this chaos, an unnerving secret awaits Thoral that just might turn his life upside-down. Will Thoral succeed in his mission? Will Thoral be able to confront the ultimate truth? Will the evil win over the good? All these questions get answered in the book.

The book is full of likeable aspects. J.R.R.R. (Jim) Hardison has created a marvellous fantasy world full of unique and mythical creatures. He has struck a perfect balance between keeping the book fun and the readers curious. He has carefully given his characters an unpredictable back story that keeps the reader hooked. J.R.R.R. (Jim) Hardison has paid great attention to the detail in his characters like Thoral, frequently forgetting specific words. The story has many evil characters, each adding their own flavour. I enjoyed the chapters with Necrogrond, Pooja Assasins, and The Heartless One the most. The action sequences are amazing and humorous. Each creature has an unusual style, which the author has captured wonderfully. The most impressive part for me was how the author has brilliantly executed an unconventional villain. To my surprise, the plot takes a grand twist, and it is definitely worth the while. This journey of Thoral from a fist to a fish wielder is no less than mind blowing.

There's nothing I disliked in the book. It's exceptionally well-edited. Even after the comparison with great mythological novels, it retains its authenticity and originality. The book is full of unusual yet amusing words that one cannot find anywhere else.

I rate this book four out of four stars. I found the character depth and development quite wonderful to witness. This book gave me nostalgia and warmth.

I recommend this book to middle school children as well as teenagers. Being an adult who admires fantasy novels, I highly recommend this to fantasy lovers. If you enjoy reading action with lots of humour then, you should give this book a chance.
