We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is a fantasy novel that changes perspectives between characters.
In the Land of the Princes, it was death by sword, or a low starvation. Galen Bray was little when the war began, so survival was all he's ever known. It would have been all he'd ever know if his dying great uncle's executor hadn't found him. Narrowly escaping death, he departs for Magnum Caelum in hopes for a better life. After his arrival, Galen starts preparing to learn his inherited trade of forging steel and soon embarks on a journey of self discovery, friendship, and the riches of Voulhire.

Life in Voulhire is different, the worlds of religion, science, and magic coexist.
It is a prosperous country, with its cities boasting success.
King Wilhelm of Voulhire has appointed a new Lord for the town of Hillport. Unlike most of the kingdom, Hillport has had no progress over the years, in fact, it has a darker history due to its previous leaders. Among them, a powerful wizard named Dalehei Meldorath, a retired general. Accused of illegal experiments on people, the king had sentenced him to death, and although he was gone the people of Hillport still lived in fear.
With another enemy rising in the shadows, the king also harbors a dangerous secret.

Even though the book constantly changes perspectives, it is relatively easy to follow. It's packed with magical action that is so vividly detailed making it easy to imagine, with a gripping introduction that makes a reader want to discover more of the storyline. Matthew Tysz did not disappoint in delivering clear descriptions of the characters and places, I could clearly imagine the bed of the perculiar black flowers with golden spores growing out of the solid stone wall and I found the personalities of the characters distinct and uncomplicated, I loved being able to identify them through dialogues. More importantly, the fantasy elements are definitely a force to be reckoned with.

I did not find any negatives within the storyline. However, there were numerous unfamiliar words in the book. It was only after reading the entire book that I discovered the meanings of the words lie in the last pages. I feel that it would have been better to have them in the first pages since it is the first of a series of books.

I rate this book a 4 out of 4 stars. It appears to be professionally edited, as I found no grammatical or spelling errors.

I would recommend this fantasy novel to lovers of, "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit". Young adults may be more drawn to this type of fantasy genre.
