The novel The Queen of Xana by Fred Pilchar is about a young woman named Agatha who was a princess. She was brought up to be a queen since she was the only heir to the throne. Through her bravery she managed to build her country from the ground after a series of invasion from an evil person and disruptions by the corrupt advisors in her court. She was determined to give equal rights to everyone and with that mindset she grew her nation to become the most abundant and organized state. She was admired and loved by all.

What I liked about the book is how different the book is. It's like none that I have read before. l loved that like all fairy tale princesses, this one has a different air of confidence. She is determined to rule. She is confident and knows when to trust her gut. Determined to be able to look after her own people. Which is a rare trait in most fairytales. She meets her knight in shining armor but he does not overshadow her. He simply is there for her. I really loved this book. You could feel the woman empowerment from a mile away. It is true that what a man does a woman can do better. I would definitely recommend this book to all women out there who are on their journey to empowerment, leadership and those already in leadership. We definitely need more women like Agatha. This is a job well done to the author for bringing such an issue to light.

What I did not like about the book is how at times the author was diving into a lot of things at once. It is as if the author was trying to quickly finish a part of the story without giving a build up enough for one to understand what was going on. It was all confusing at times. I understand it was because the author claimed that there were no enough facts to fill out the story which I understand but, at times it was a little too much. However that did not override how wonderful the book is.

I would rate this book a 4 out of 4 stars because it is professionally edited. I also loved that it was talking about woman in leadership. I loved the message that it was bringing out and that message is a woman can not always just sit and be pretty. A woman is also capable of achieving a lot as a leader given the chance and if not, they need to fight until they are heard because they are important and intelligent too.

I would recommend this book to an audience who love reading about woman empowerment and also to people sixteen and above because there is sexual content.
