Awakening is a fantasy novel about two sisters and their kingdom. Born to the King and Queen of Hale, Katja, and Amara, they grew up surrounded by courtesans, mages, and instructors. These two are very much alike, but they have one key difference. Amara possesses some magical powers, and Katja does not. Their differences would soon cause a rift in the kingdom. This rift will cause Katja to wake up in an environment that she has no recollection of going to. Having lost her memory, she must find a way to remember all that has happened and eventually learn ways to save her kingdom.

I like it when books realistically portray magic. It is always refreshing when this magic is put to use by its possessor in stories. This is the case in Awakening. Another thing that I like about the book is the fact that the story comfortably alternates between the lady and the present in the main character's life. It didn't follow the cliched method of dealing with the past once and for all before talking about the present. This style of writing is novel to me, and it just so happens to be what I like the most in Awakening.

This novel was written by Tayma Tameem. If there is anything that I know about her books, it's the fact that she puts her all into her stories. It's like she puts her hand deep into the container where her creativity is stored and brings out the best in great, wonderful books. Two of the major themes that I saw in this novel are magic and friendship. These two made the book even more entertaining for me.

I didn't dislike anything in Awakening. That would be because I was so invested in the novel till I finished. It was so interesting and was presented properly. It never even crossed my mind to dislike anything in it. I thoroughly enjoyed the story. I think that I'll love the book more if there is an audiobook version.

Awakening was also exceptionally well-edited. This showed that Tayma Tameem paid attention to her script when she edited it. Since I didn't despise anything in Awakening, I rate it four out of four stars. It is a fantasy novel. I recommend it to fans of that genre. It can also be called an adventure novel, so readers who like an adventure with a touch of magic should read this.
