Uncorrected Proof Review

City of Stairs a world of dead gods and their followers. A world in which not everything is as it seems. A conflict between Saypur and the Continent that has brought so much consequences to those involved, the solution, the past.

At first when I started reading this novel, I found it a bit hard to follow and struggled to get through the first pages of the story, but as it kept going; I started getting sucked into this mysterious world. It starts a bit slow but picks up rather quickly.
The story's world-building is so well executed that is like you seeing the dead gods' world (past and present) outside of your window. The writing is captivating and strong. The characters are really well developed ( thou those names, I don't think I can pronounced them correctly). There were every kind of characters, heroes, monsters, spiritual beings, mercenaries, intellectuals, you name it.
I liked that the plot had a bit of a 300 war going on. Such descriptive scenery and events. It hard to read them some time, just imagining how horrible it was.

Such a mysterious, rich , though provoking and mind blowing story. It will sucked in and won't let you go until along with Shara, you find the truth. At first it started as a murder mystery then later turn in into a bit of a coming of age love story, conspiracy thriller, later a philosophical mystery, and in the end everything fussed together.

A heck of a marvelous story. Amazingly done. I applaud Jackson Bennett for bringing us such a well crafted world. 4 Stars
