Great review! I've only read the sample, but I agree that the beginning is really intriguing. It's intense and fast-paced from the start, which really gets your attention. I was hoping it was primarily a murder mystery, but I'm not sure based on this review. I'm not sure I'd be interested in the other stuff, but maybe!

I’m typically up for a fantasy novel, and the added elements of a murder mystery and adventure make the book sound more intriguing. It is a bit disappointing that the characters aren’t described more, that the ages aren’t even distinguishable for the main characters, but that’s not necessarily a dealbreaker. Hopefully, plot, other aspects of character development, and other elements of the novel make up for that small deficiency. Thank you for the helpful review.

It sounds as though Borlock died way too soon in the plot and then Delvin and Jarla go on an adventure to prevent Hengel from going to war? I wold have thought the adventure would be aimed at solving the mystery of Borlock’s death. I suppose I will find out if I read the book but the story and character names sound too contrived to entice me any further. Not my cup of tea but thank you for the insightful review.

This is an interesting magic novel, I have not read the novel before but I intend to do so soon. My question is; Does Delvin have a hand in his teacher's demise? The only way to find out is to grab a copy of this novel. Congrats on BOTD!

I really hope it wasn't Delvin who killed Borlock. I have always enjoyed reading magical books, cue the adventure and I'm game. It would be nice to read through Delvin's adventure with Princess Jarla and Fionella. Congratulations on BOTD.

From that moment, Delvin will really have it rough and his life will never remain the same. I will like to read this book to find out his next line of action. Congratulations to the author on winning book of the day.
