The Fish Wielder is a tale of Thoran, his fish Brad and his horse Warlordhorse. They travel through the land of Grome on various adventures removing evil where it might be while saying and doing the most ridiculous things which are part funny and part annoying. Thoran is a perfect specimen warrior who is always forgetful of some words but can always be counted on to vanquish evil even if he almost dies several times. Brad is his best fish friend who knows all the words that Thoran forgets and rides on Thoran’s shoulders for all their adventures. They are on a quest to stop evil from acquiring the pudding of power and resurrecting the evil lord that can control the bracelet of evil.

I love every nonsensical thing about the story and the characters. You will not stop laughing from the ludicrous activities and speech patterns of the characters. The language was purposefully exaggerated; simple where complexity was needed and complex where simplicity was needed; this was part of the charm of the story. The story telling was engaging and you feel like J. R. R. R. (Jim) Hardison is speaking to you directly when he narrates.

I am giving 4 out of 4 stars purely for the entertainment value of the story. It can easily be adapted to a graphic novel and I think it will also be a successful one if it was adapted. It was engaging, funny, ludicrous and enchanting. I loved how innocent and gullible Thoran was, which made him such a fun and likable character. I couldn’t find anything that I didn’t like about the story, it was a delightful experience to read this story.

I would recommend this book to children of age 10-13, and anyone who loves comic books because it can be enjoyed by all ages.
