Cassidy Kincaide owns Trifles & Folly, an antique/curio store and high-end pawn shop in Charleston, South Carolina that is more than what it seems.

Cassidy is refreshingly naive. She knows what she can do (she can tell the history of an object by touch.), she knows what's going on (the boogie man does exist and is likely right outside your door.), and she knows what could be at stake (everything). She seems very positive about the world around her, though I'm sure that will change.
She's not held back by any of it though. She would run into a burning building if it meant the life of one of her friends.
She has a shop, and the 300 year old vampire, Sorren, that comes with it.
She has a gay besty, and his partner, both with their own gifts.
She has her dog/s (those who read it will know what I mean by that).

It isn't perfect. I wish it had been a little faster in parts, a little slower in others.
There are a few thrills in this book I think worthy of Stephen King, or at least Laurell K Hamilton.
This isn't a particularly dark book. The author saved the darkness for key scenes and I loved those parts. You'll never look at museums the same way again.

I admit to having a weakness for urban fantasy and for vampires.
This being said, I would have liked more of this mysterious vampire.
I'd also like to know if I was supposed to find the chemistry between Sorren and Cassidy. I felt it but I'm used to being hit over the head with it, so this could be the start to a subtle love story. I wasn't sure there was such a thing.
The fact is, if you love urban fantasy and/or vampires, you could love this story.
I can't wait for the next one.
