Review of The Devil Pulls the Strings
In a jousting Boone Daniels injures his opponent and beloved friend Flynn; this creates a deep regret in Boone and he accepts Flynn's request to participate in his Gig in New York instead of him. Everything looks right until Boone finds professor Stone, whom Flynn asked to meet, is found dead in his house. There he found Sapphire, Stones secretary and they both escaped the detrimental situation. Later he learns about Paganini’s music sheet and Baba Yaga, who can stop the catastrophe that will occur in New York by Sinti, an immortal. The duo and Sinti, who attack them whenever they bump into each other, hit the road to search for Paganini’s music sonata played once a hundred years with the help of professor Wickhamby and detective Rizos. Will they escape the ruthless plans of Sinti and save New York City from the wrath of the devil? Will Boone overcome the wendigo haunting him since his childhood and save Sapphire and his friends?
J.W.Zarek’s grandiloquent fantasy The Devil Pulls the Strings takes you on an enchanting roller coaster saga where you encounter thought-provoking mysteries and magical scenarios and those characters take you time travel along with them with time crystals. Right from the start you feel intrigued with a lot of legends coming from time to time like wendigo, domovoi, vampires, immortals, and cockatrices.
This story entails pleasing chemistry between the two main protagonists Boone and Sapphire. Boone’s character is well made, showing how courageous he became over time and how he overcame his shortcomings for his best friend. His brotherhood is one of the best in the stories, even though we didn’t get to see more of them. Sapphire portrays a strong girl who seems to play her role well in this story. Professor Wickhamby’s mysterious ideas and knowledge add spices to this whole fast-paced novel.
At the start, you may feel confused about some characters and clueless too, but as the story progresses you will have your questions answered. Everything makes sense when you take a deep dive into the novel. And the glossary at the end that helps us to recall the characters is a great thing about this novel.
There is nothing wrong with liking this novel, so this novel is worthy of a 4 out of 4 stars. This novel is well written and I would encourage those fantasy readers who love magic to give this novel a try. This novel is suitable for all and doesn't contain any religious or sexual content. You may come across some violence, but it won’t daunt the readers.
