Imagine the world of The Lord of the Rings, The Song of Ice and Fire, and The Chronicles of Narnia all combined into one!! Exciting, right? Yes, Fish Wielder by J.R.R.R. (Jim) Hardison is the book you are searching for if you are a fan of this genre except that this is funnier and calmer.

The story begins with the protagonist, Thoral Mighty Fist, along with his companion Bradford, the koi fish, engaged in a fight with the Necrogrond. There, he rescues the Elvish princess and thus the adventure begins. Being new to the realm of Grome and haunted by his past, Thoral is a handsome foreigner with purple eyes and pearly white teeth. His power and beauty have gained him both friends and foes. The base of the story lies in the "Pudding of power”, the ultimate secret to becoming the most powerful in the realm. The Heartless one, the power-seeking anti-hero is after this pudding. Thus, Thoral and Brad, along with his steed Wardlordhorse and the elvish army, go on an adventure to discover the pudding and destroy it before anyone else gets to it. Would Thoral be able to defeat the Heartless one? Or is it going to be the beginning of the end of Grome?

The adventures of Thoral, his friendship with the talking fish Brad, his love life with the princess, and the very weird world of Grome and its people are executed so well in this book that you can feel the emotions of every character and place. The most important bit about this piece is that it never makes you bored or worried. The way every place is described, the dialogues, especially the names are just awesome. I have to say that Brad just stole my heart all throughout the pages. The way he makes every tense situation light with his sarcastic comments is bliss. I've found myself reading those dialogues over and over again and laughing out loud so many times.

I can't really think of any negative points. Just some grammatical mistakes here and there(could be intentional), a little slow pace towards the middle, and the fight scenes were a bit predictable. Apart from these, I thoroughly enjoyed the Fish Wielder.

Unlike any other book, you can read this one with a totally pleasant mind. It never disturbs our mental state and is very much apt for fun and fantasy-loving readers. I give this book 4 out of 4 stars for its warmth and magic. The book is well-edited and is so light, almost like a children’s novel, still, anyone can enjoy it, both children and adults. It contains some profane words and fight scenes which some may find uncomfortable. But I assure you this one is a must-read fantastic happy novel. Just a bit complicated is all. So, what say we get a map of Grome?
