The well-written Sci-Fi/fiction/fantasy novel Slave Empire I: Prophecy by T. C. Southwell opens on the planet Draycon. A high priest in a temple predicts the fulfillment of a prophecy that has the potential to alter the course of history for more than one group of beings within the galaxy. The Empress Drevina Ranshan of this empire must search out and destroy the Golden Child before the prophecy can be fulfilled.

Next we meet two siblings struggling to make an existence on the dying planet Ellath Three. They become isolated in their quest for subsistence and various benefactors protect the young girl as she attempts to locate her brother. Eventually she and her brother are rescued from the planet by the Atlanteans, a race of people different from the first group and are taken back to Atlan in preparation for the quest. The Atlanteans also had a prophecy concerning the same Golden Child.

After several skirmishes of being captured and rescued the Golden Child forges some good relationships and learns about different alien cultures and languages. She learns of her purpose but does not know how she will rescue the world of the Atlanteans with her strengths and gifts that the Atlanteans helped her to develop. She is not alone in her quest; she has a guardian that nudges her through the journey, and surprising friends who step up to help her out. The surprise ending will force you to get the next book in the series to find out more.

I really liked the way the author T.C. Southwell uses technology in her story. This story captures your attention and takes you from a world of little technology to one with advanced technology. We also see the effects of greed and unchecked use of technology. This story speaks on many different levels from a personal level between the interactions of the main characters and beyond to the impact of planets, galaxies, and time dimensions of the universe. I did notice a couple of spelling errors but that may be due to the difference of countries between my country and South Africa. One of the two words that were spelled differently was consistently spelled incorrectly. The other word was merely a typographical error.

I give this book 3 out of 4 Stars! This was an excellent read and the author does a nice job taking you along with the heroine as she journeys through her purpose in this story. I found that I could not just read the one book. I actually went out and purchased the other two books in this series because I just had to know more about what was happening. This series is exceptional and I suspect that it may be liked by a young adult audience as well.

Great review! I've actually read the book and thought it was great as well. I definitely planned to continue with the series.
