Project Vigil is a secret to try and create super soldiers. John part human part machine designed and trained for combat. Gillian the girl he loves is in the project as well; John will stop at nothing to protect her from the cruel guards watching over every move they make. A few more teenagers make up this project and every one of them knows no life outside of this. All the guards are agents them and fear them because they are not fully humans any more. The guard strife for the kids in this project is the reason for a mission that includes every single teen in the project, to go horribly wrong. Some never return and lives change forever.

John has had enough of everything involving project vigil and leads the teens that are still alive in a revolt. This changes everything in their lives. As terrible as their life in the project can they make a life elsewhere or will they return to the warfare?

Written very well this short story was told from the view point of John. More back ground of the characters and the situation would have been nice but would not have totally make or break the story. The story did progress at a faster pace, it did however match the speed of the action scenes.

I give this a 3 out of 4 stars. I really did enjoy this little short story and the concept was amazing. This story kind of reminded me of the Maze Runner book. The action was fast pace and placed right where it was needed. I could hardly put the book down it was quite the page turner. While this story was really great I did not give it a full four star rating because I feel that it needed a few things. Some more character development of other characters besides John would have add a new level to this story. Adding another view point of possibly Gillian for the story to be told from would have given more insight for us as readers.

I loved this story I wish it was a full book even a part of a series would be great. I really love the action parts had detail but at the same time it was not slow down by the words. The only thing I didn’t like personal was to me there seemed to be a lack of emotion in John but that also made him who he is.
