In a royal family, the focus and emphasis is often on the firstborn; preparing, protecting and teaching them to be the successful leader that they will one day grow up to be when they take their rightful place on the throne. This is the situation in the Royal family of the Kingdom of Neuyokkasin. Prince Augusteros who is the firstborn, is overprotected and much of the attention is given to him. This means that his younger brother, Prince Saxthor is mostly left to his own devices, and obviously less attention and protection is given to him. However, all this changes one night when Memlatec, the wizard discovers that Saxthor possesses a special power, and he is the one that all attention should have been towards. Memlatec realizes that if the enemies of the Royal family discover that Saxthor has this power they surely will want to get rid of him.

The kingdom of Neuyokkasin has several enemies including the Dark Lord of Dreaddrac who is supposedly amassing a huge army in which to overtake the kingdom. Another important enemy is Saxthor’s aunt Earwig. Earwig used to be the former queen and her husband the king, but they were expelled from their posts for the reason that he was a corrupt and greedy ruler, and she a power-hungry socialite.

In order to protect Saxthor, Memlatec sends him along with his best friend Bodrin and his assistant wizard Tournak to protect him. For their journey, Memlatec gives the boys several gifts that will aid them, including swords, a necklace, a ring and Twit, a little wren to keep watch of their surroundings. On their journey they come across fantastical creatures such as rock-dwarves, ogres, dragons, and elves. They also need to be on a constant look out for watchers which Earwig placed in order to keep a watch out for Prince Saxthor.

The Dragon Ring is a story of fantasy, born from the imagination of author C Craig Coleman. He weaves a tale of adventure, magic and fantasy, taking us on the journey of a young boy upon whom is placed a great power and a great responsibility.

It is a book of fiction that belongs to the genre of fantasy. I thought this was an interesting and fascinating story that was carefully thought out in the imagination. I liked all the mystical and magical elements of the story. Readers who enjoy fantasy stories will certainly enjoy this one, as it includes all the elements for a successful story; adventure, intrigue, quests and a good dose of magic. I would award this story four out of four stars, and for readers who really enjoyed it, they can look forward to the next book as this is only the first in the series of books titled Neuyokkasinian Arc of Empire Series.

Great review! I'm into fantasy and the mention of 'rock-dwarves, ogres, dragons, and elves' piqued my interest. Congratulations to C. Craig Coleman for a wonderful book!

Great review! It was nice and concise, but still had all of the necessary information along with helpful tidbits. The book definitely sounds like an interesting one as well...

Sounds good. I love epic fantasy that have mystical and magical elements, and I just love quests!

Thank you for the detailed review! The concept of the story sounds very interesting. I love some magic and a quest in a read. However, I will admit, I think the funky names will get me a few times. Nice, thorough review! The book doesn't look like my cup of tea, but it seems interesting for readers who like fantasy books with quests and mystical elements. Twit and Earwig are funny names for characters!

Thanks for the interesting review of the book The Dragon Ring by C. Craig Colemar. This is another fantasy book that is courting my desire to read. I never thought I would ever get interested in reading fantasy books. But the review is very enticing. I won't hesitate to read this book.

Where they sent out to "search" for something, on a quest of some sort? Or were they just sent out for Saxthor's protection, like "here, go on an adventure so they won't find you"?
