Terms of Service by Craig W. Stanfill opens with the journey into a society that is already giving Kim, a young artificial intelligence trainer, trauma. Artificial intelligence machines are logic-based creatures with no emotions, but they are always on duty. The A.I.s are to be suspicious and investigate anything unusual that comes to their attention, to track violations at bus stations with techniques of lurking, baiting, and striking, while at other times, to spin or arrest violators.

With Kim engaged in the investigation into identifying contraband traced to some cultists' group of smugglers, the Anti-Mentorists, of several Foodies, she saw that there were other offenses, like kidnapping, committed. So, there were the UCE movement dance shows she had to attend. But she was also invited personally to dinner by Quinn, a musician friend from school. Something that might also make the Hierarchy feel that she was also a cultist.

The book detailed how reuniting with old friends can make you feel better and relieve stress. The ruins the two friends, Kim and Shan, saw as they journeyed further into the woods looked like the A.I. war with its battle against the killer robots. But they were never to tell anybody.

On a serious note, it would be absurd that the music company could be looking for ways of pinning copying-out and infringement charges on every piece of music done and produced elsewhere, except for songs written by the A.I.s, so they didn't have to pay royalties to the artists. They could have hated the truth. Possibly, Kim was doing as she was told by accepting her new position at the artificial intelligence company, working directly with high-order A.I.s. But little did she know that she was so thoroughly entangled that there was no possibility of escape.

Was it a matter of ghosting or what? A situation whereby a person has a virtual body and a physical one at a time, only to wait till the personae reintegrate before being able to think again. One could be implanted with fake memories and use them to create an A.I. and identity, as one could live it while asleep. You create a primus A.I. that you can terminate, kill or make mad. One can become insane themselves.

However, in the book, Terms of Service by Craig W. Stanfill, Kim somehow proved to be generic, in a way, violating the A.I. machines that had been in her apartment out of drugged annoyance for having an outing with an unwanted partner. She came across things that later helped her understand that artificial intelligence could be a weapon to intimidate someone, catch up with them, or have their children taken away for use by the A.I. and never seen by their mother again.

After her court case, she regained her free will and was happy to be dismissed from work. She only thought she needed to cope with being relegated to the outer districts to live. But could one ever be completely free of the A.I.'s intimidation and trials to catch up with one's entire life tracked? I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I came across only one instance of misuse of "apostrophe and s" in this book.

I could recommend reading this book to people who like to read science-fiction books in particular, but adults can also find it interesting in general.
