We judge each other for the varying beliefs we harbor either spiritually or scientifically. However, it doesn't make one right and the other wrong. We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz conveys how different we are in the beliefs we have.

Galen a refugee, fled his home after receiving a hefty inheritance from her uncle. His uncle's executor becomes his guide after arriving after his uncle's demise. While Galen is learning about his new life, the people of the kingdom feel threatened by a powerful mage. He's planned something so great yet, the king assures his subjects that no harm shall come to them. Locked up on a tower like Rapunzel the mage patiently waits as his plans are in motion.

Matthew Tysz, the author, has portrayed the characters very differently. This enables the book to be more interesting to read. Due to the characterization, there is no moment of monotony as they keep you on your feet with their different reactions. Having characters who are humble, rude, psychotic and even kind.

Another positive element of the book is that the author has gone into great detail with the explanations. With the details, you feel as if you are pulled into the world of magic where portals and mages exist. The book also shows how creative the author actually is coming up with a world so different from our own and what we are used to. I also love the fact that the author was thoughtful enough to add a glossary to use as a reference for the words he has created for his realm.

I love how the book has some kind of moral to the story. It even points out that there are vices and virtues. This enables one to know that we choose who we want to be this is seen through Galen whose been through a lot but still chooses to be kind and humble to others. I also love the fact that when you understand the characters it gets to a point you understand what they are going through and the reason for their action.

Matthew Tysz has written the book so well whereby, he balances the different characters from different areas so well. The only downside is that it takes a while to get a better bearing with the characters. The point of view switch, therefore, may be confusing at first, but after a while, it becomes simpler.

I would rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because I enjoyed reading the book. It also caught my attention from start to finish. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves good fiction.
