Few kingdoms achieve the status that comes with great wealth, technology, culture, power, and faith. Voulhire is one such kingdom, a land of prosperity, magic, and endless opportunity. In We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies, Matthew Tysz creates a magical world in which a kingdom of unrivaled greatness exists; Voulhire. But power and prosperity often inspire ambition in those who seek it and paranoia in those who have it. Voulhire's king is cautious of his sons' ambition and designs a plan to protect his throne. He sends the princes' to the Land of Princes and pits them against each other. The princes’ war plunges the Land of Princes into a brutal war that costs the ordinary folks dearly. The only escape is death by the sword or starvation. But destiny gives a young man called Galen a chance when his uncle bequeaths him a forge in Voulhire. Galen’s move to Voulhire sets him on an unexpected path.

I love the world Matthew Tysz creates in this book. He flawlessly blends natural reality with supernatural reality using science and magic. I noticed that the technological advancement that results from scientific methods and magical powers that manifest as spells are a prominent part of the story. Yet Matthew Tysz's fantastic world is so similar to our reality. For instance, the political dynamics concerning the monarchy and positions of influence are reminiscent of real life. The emotions and connections between characters are also familiar. The scenes and background scenery are detailed and captivating. I appreciate Matthew Tysz's ability to create a foreign and magical realm that is familiar and relatable.

Another positive aspect is character development. My favorite character is Galen because he is the underdog everybody loves to love. Galen’s character is well crafted and connected to the overall story. Galen’s story is one of the multiple storylines that eventually converge to form a bigger picture. Yet Galen connects with many characters throughout the story.

We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz deserves a perfect rating of four out of four stars for many reasons. First, the story is captivating and memorable. Second, the editing is exceptional because there are no grammatical or plot errors. I like every aspect of the book.

I recommend We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz to readers who like fantasy and adventure novels. The book is the perfect introduction to the series but is also a standalone read. However, the vulgar words limit the book's audience to people over sixteen years.
