A Dead End Job by Justin Alcala is a captivating book that follows Mr Buchanan Palasinski, better known as Buck. His normal life as a hitman gets turned upside down as he ends up becoming Deaths right hand man after one of his jobs turns south. Thrown into the world of the supernatural, he needs to prove his worth to Death, but he ends up uncovering more than he expected. His journey is filled with many thrilling battles with the supernatural, but will he be able to pull off his first hit as deaths accomplice? Will it prove to be too much for one man and will his discoveries turn the world as they know it upside down?

This book was a wonderful read, the story flows very easily and it is very simple to keep track of each character and where they fit in. The characters are well outlined and the descriptions give you a very clear image in your mind of each character while reading. The descriptive nature makes the reader invested in the story and in the characters feelings and journey. The book was hard to put down as it keeps you coming back for more and wanting to find out what happens next. The plot twists were pleasantly spaced, added in much unexpected parts of the book which then added a new dimension to the storyline. The multiple points of view of the different characters also added hugely to the flow of the story and were very easy to follow and link together, making this a relatively easy and enjoyable read.

Although the book is relatively fast paced I cannot fault the storyline, it was very enjoyable to read and I thoroughly loved how the author managed to tie the world of the living and the supernatural together in a way that didn’t overwhelm the story. I found very few errors in the book and the few that there were didn’t affect the storyline in any way.

I would rate this book 4 out of 4 starts as the book was thoroughly enjoyable to read, I had a hard time putting it down and the story kept me interested from start to finish. The book is easy to follow and is well written

I would recommend this book to those who enjoy Fantasy books, especially in the supernatural genre and those looking for an interesting and quick read.
