Michael Komeshak is the author of The Decision, a mind-bending science fiction novel which plunges the reader and its characters into the abyss. The characters are a diverse array of individuals who have been chosen by an alien entity to examine a multitude of situations that will affect their planet, Earth. After much deliberation among themselves and a great deal of individual soul searching, they must decide upon a course of action regarding various life altering scenarios. However, there is no way for any of the "chosen" to know the final outcome of the decision that they must ultimately make. So, turmoil and tension abound. All that is known to these individuals is that in end, the choice that they make will affect billions of lives. It is the uncertainty and the fear of the unknown which continues to drive the story and keeps the reader turning the pages.

Michael Komeshak is a master storyteller who has artfully crafted a story that enthralls the reader from the first page of the narrative. The author begins the book with a great hook that grabs the reader's attention and holds onto it throughout the book.

This author maintains a constant and deliberate momentum throughout most of the novel as he describes unusual and unbelievable breaking news events which are being revealed to the citizens of Earth. Also, the descriptive passages about the location and history of the place where the story unfolds are indicative of the quality of the research that Michael Komeshak has done to bring the scenes to life.

Michael Komeshak has created unique speech patterns for each character and those speech patterns remain consistent throughout the book. Although the dialogue between the characters is very complex, it flows naturally because the author has established that this is the way that the characters speak to one another. In other words, they stay "in character."

Because of the intense emotions that this author expresses through his characters, the reader might surmise that these events could actually be taking place.

My only negative comment is that the pace of the book slows to a crawl at the middle of the book.

I have rated this book 4 out of 4 stars because The Decision is so meticulously written and error free that it appears to have been professionally edited.

I am recommending this novel to all lovers of science fiction.
