This story is a fantasy set in a world of mystic, power and prestige. Matthew Tysz introduces us to the main character, Galen Bray, who is from the Land of the Princes and on his way to Voulhire. Bray seems to be excited to be going to the “magnificent and terrifying kingdom of Voulhire.” We learn about the four sons who were put on different islands by their father to avoid sibling rivalry. It is also revealed that the king didn't want the brothers to start getting ideas and dethrone him. We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is an intriguing tale that simultaneously captures the beauty of Voulhire and the evil that lurks.

This read was very pleasing to say the least, I was able to comprehensively understand the complicated storylines. I appreciate how the author portrays how it is in human nature to fight over money and power even though they were given dominion over all things. The novel is filled with amazing characters and the map at the beginning was genius. It helped provide me with a visual guide of the kingdom. Tysz did well with this novel, letting the reader know that the wages of sin is death and war is inevitable. The main character, Galen Bray certainly made me root for him throughout the storyline, he had the best character development in my opinion.

Despite the amazing contents of this novel, I found it to be on the slow side. I guess it makes sense since this is the first instalment of a series. It might be a little too slow for those who aren't interested in reading all the books that come after this one. All in all, it was a good book. I have to give the author credit for his great imagination and storytelling abilities, this read really gave off an enchanted atmosphere.

I rate this novel a four out of four. Mainly because I wouldn't mind reading the second instalment to find out what's going to happen next. The book was well edited, and I appreciate the author's descriptive writing. I found a few of the characters and situations relatable to a certain extent, which is a good thing.

I highly recommend this book to readers who would like to hide from reality for a while. I felt like I was stepping out of a cinema when I finished reading it. I'm sure readers who enjoy other genres would appreciate this book too.
