The Devil Pulls the Strings by J.W. Zarek is an enticing fantasy story that revolves around a young man called Boone Daniels, from Wentzville, a small town in Missouri, who is suddenly introduced to the chaos around magic and magical beings coupled with science when he travels to New York City to fulfill a promise. The young man is faced with a decision: to go back on the promise he made to his friend and allow the world to crumble down in the process, or to keep his promise and help save the world from the devil himself, along with a few friends he made. The story has forty-seven chapters divided into five acts, along with a prologue and an epilogue.

First, I would praise the author for the exquisite imagination and creativity that he exhibited in writing the book. The book has major twists and suspense that help to keep the interest of readers till the last page of the book. The Devil Pulls the Strings, in addition to vivid details about the main characters' journey, provides a fictional avenue where science and magic are intertwined to create a perfect and awesome content. The author examined the major themes in the book well, especially honesty, friendship, bravery, and heroism. The author gives insights into the consequences of every action in life, both intentional and unintentional, as the main characters make decisions that affect the world they live in at every step of their journeys. J.W. Zarek wrote the book in an easy-to-follow tone that piques the interest of readers. He did a laudable job as his book was very easy to read and understand. It also exposes the harsh life of being a stranger in an unknown place and how things can easily become overwhelming, especially when you have a lot of personal problems haunting you.

The book was free from any major errors, grammatical or otherwise, that could have undermined its quality. It was well-edited, and the layout of the book was as good as it could be. The author did a great job.

I would rate this book four out of four stars for its creative and impressive content. The book was easy to read and understand, and its content was very interesting.

I would recommend this book to people who are very interested in outstanding fantasy stories that have a little horror touch-up with science. The book's content can deliver all these without making it a mess. Also, it serves as a great source of entertainment that anyone who loves reading can read and never be bored.
