Fantasy novels are my favorites. I have read a lot of them, but there was something different about this one that made it special. It is a combination of fantasy and sci-fi stories. We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is a sci-fi/fantasy novel that contains 302 pages and tells the story of a fictional universe known for its excellence and opportunities.

The first character, Galen Bray, went in search of a new destination due to the endless war and suffering in the Land of Princes. He boards a ship to Magnum Caelum in the kingdom of Voulhire in hopes of a new beginning. Voulhire is ruled by King Wilhelm Arcolo. It is a place known for magic, science, and opportunity, but beneath this kingdom lies a darkness trying to engulf it. On arriving, Galen inherited the fortunes of his late uncle and had a quest to fulfill in this new kingdom. Lord Edus serves as a sort of secondary protagonist. He is the incumbent leader of Hillport, a town that has been struck with horror by Lord Orlin and Lord Meldorath. Lord Edus tries to bring the town back to normal and to put an end to the rumour of Lord Meldorath still being alive. Get this book to find out what happened. This is not your regular storyline.

I liked that the author told the story of the book from different perspectives, which made the storyline more interesting and fascinating. The plot was unpredictable. I kept wondering if something bad might happen to Galen or if the villain, Meldorath, would return. The major and minor characters were well developed. The book contained suspense, lots of mysteries, and several twists, which kept me intrigued. The setting of the book was well detailed. The book includes elements of a fantasy/sci-fi story such as supernatural powers, a cast of complex characters, a perilous quest, political structure, and science.

I found no negative aspects in this book. The book might be quite confusing due to the different stories of the many events happening in Voulhire from which it was told. The author has a good writing style. I liked the way the author infused literary devices into the book. It made the book so extraordinary and made me understand it more profoundly. I applaud the author for his creativity and imagination. I think this book would be a perfect idea for a movie adaptation. I'm looking forward to reading the second series of this book by the author.

I’m rating this book 4 out of 4 stars. I found no errors in the book. This demonstrates how well-edited it was. I recommend this book to lovers of sci-fi, thrillers, fantasies, and adventures. Children and people who are sensitive to profanity should avoid this book.
