Lucienne is back and is more determined than ever to come into her full power as a Siren and fulfill her destiny. She, however, has a lot on her plate. After the betrayal of her love, Vladimir Blazek, and the slaughter of many of her faithful warriors, Siren, Lucienne Lam is more determined than ever to open up the portal to Eterne. When a messenger from the traitor comes through that tells her that the Nexus Tear has been activated, things get dicey. Nexus Tear is an ancient technology that is rumored to be able to undo the Siren.

To make matters worse, her friend, Ashburn Fury’s body has melded with the Eye of Time and its TimeDust. With the Lure making Ash’s and Lucienne’s feelings for each other grow, it’s getting harder for Lucienne to stay true to her feelings for Vladimir and the promise she made to him before he betrayed her. To top it off, her mentor and protector, Kian is determined to restrict her life as much as possible if it means keeping her safe from the governments, rebels, and other people under the Sealers’ (secret organization bent on destroying the Siren) thumb who want her dead. Will Lucienne be able to find and open the portal to Eterne? Will she be able to stop the Nexus Tear from destroying her? Will she fall for Ashburn or remain true to Vladimir?

The plot took a long while to get moving, but was intense and mostly engaging. The plot twists, particularly at the end, will definitely throw the reader for a loop and make them wish the sequel to this book was already out. The mixing of humor and romance was fun and engaging. Although, the reader may wish the action was a little more interspersed throughout the book.

The characters were well-developed, delightful, and their personalities were unique. The dynamic between the characters was well-done and easily pulled the reader into Lucienne’s world. Lucienne’s internal dialogue wasn’t overbearing and helped the readers to see more deeply into her character. I particularly liked the addition of Ashburn being able to read other people’s minds, but not hers. It made his frustration with not being able to figure out what she wanted from him in a relationship more intriguing and believable.

At the time of reading this book, my only major problem with it was that there were a lot spelling errors and fragmented sentences where much-needed words were left out. Since then, the author has fixed these problems. For this reason, I probably would've changed the rating from 3 out of 4 stars to 4 out of 4 stars, if I had read the edited version. I loved the plot twists and the story between Ash, Vladimir, and Lucienne. It would have been nice if the Nexus Tear plot has taken center stage a little earlier and the ending was a little more drawn out. These things were mostly just wishful thinking, however, and changing them probably would have altered the amazing way the author built up the tension and the pulled the reader into the story's climax. I’d recommend this book to anyone who is interested in mythology, romance, and adventure.

There are still numerous classic books which I want to read and are available free from my public library, so I rarely buy fiction.

I can understand that. Working at a public library myself, I don't buy that many books anymore.
