This novel Terms of Service is about a future where Artificial Intelligence is integrated into everyday life for the folks in the city. The main character, Kim, is doing her best to navigate the world and follow the rules.. until she doesn’t. Her and a friend take an innocent, unplanned adventure that they both soon regret as it turns their world upside down and they both will have to sacrifice a lot to get it right again.

I really enjoyed the storyline of the book. In the beginning, the author, Craig W. Stanfill, introduces you to Kim and the world she lives in. You get to meet her friends, see her apartment, go to her job and hang out with her outside of work. Details were given about each of these parts of her life which play a big part in helping the reader understand the dynamic and importance that Artificial Intelligence plays in her lifestyle and the lifestyle of the people around her.

This book was very enjoyable and I read through smoothly, until the end. The last few chapters felt a bit rushed as if the author was trying to squeeze in a lot of things before the book ends and it almost didn’t fit into the flow of the story. I also think that the aspect of gender within their society should be explained a bit more at the beginning of this story. Toward the end of the story, gender became very apparent and important to the storyline and characters but was not fully explained to the reader. Without that introduction to the topic and its importance in that society, I can see it causing some confusion for readers because it definitely confused me. Normally, gender is given by the pronouns used in dialogue with characters or in character descriptions, which isn't a problem, but for it to have been such a big part of the ending, it deserved more. I definitely had to re-read a few parts to understand what that author was trying to say.

Overall, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. The title fits the book perfectly! It was a great read, the author’s attention to detail in the description of the environment was phenomenal and it gave a clear visualization of what I was reading. Definitely a page-turner for sure!

I would recommend this book to those who enjoy futuristic, sci-fi, dystopian-type stories. There are a bit of sexuality and gender issues that may make some readers uncomfortable. I think you should definitely be open-minded on these topics before reading this book.
