A young man from a humble background named Galen Bray recently learned that his deceased uncle had named him as a beneficiary of his estate. He is relocating to Magnum Caelum from his hometown, The Lands of the Princes. Galen is delighted with the new opportunity life has given him and is overcome with gratitude for his late uncle, who he never even had the chance to meet. Coming from the Land of the Princes meant that his life was difficult and that his circumstances were harsh on him, but in Voulhire, he aims to build a good life for himself and continue his uncle's legacy by becoming a blacksmith. Galen is getting settled into his new life with the aid of Rowan, the executor of his late uncle's estate.

On the other part of Voulhire, Eldus is made Lord of Hillport. The King has confidence in Lord Eldus' abilities to bring Hillport, ruled by the two vile Lords Orlin and Meldorath, back to life. The residents of Hillport are still plagued by the horrible memories of these two Lords, and they constantly worry about the future. With the assistance of his wife and children, Lord Eldus hopes to revive the town's happiness.

One positive aspect I found with the book is the magical powers possessed by various characters. Mages exist in Voulhire, and some harm people with their skills. Marshus, the son of Lord Eldus, is practicing his skills and intends to use them for the good of his new hometown.

I could find no fault with the book in any way. I liked reading the story. I thought Galen was an interesting character. The novel has interesting characters and incidents that retain the reader's attention.

I rate We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz 4 out of 4 stars. The book's glossary, which enlightens readers on new vocabulary, was a nice touch. I thought the plot was extremely engaging. It was easy to follow the events in the book because of the author's straightforward writing style and the way the story was broken up into different chapters, which allowed the action to move along easily. I believe the book is exceptionally well edited because I didn't find any grammatical errors.

I recommend this book to readers who like action-packed fantasy novels. Readers who are sensitive to profanity or the subject of pedophilia should be aware of these elements in the book.
