Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
The most fascinating stories are usually sci-fi or fantasy books because they are imaginative works by an author that haven't been experienced. We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is a sci-fi/fantasy book that tells the story of a fictional world where magic exists, filled with wealth and opportunities, but its dark history still haunts the people.
This book begins with the protagonist, Galen Bray, who narrates the story of his hometown, Land of Princes, which has become a state of anarchy ruined by unending war and starvation. Galen was almost killed, but lucky for him, he managed to escape. He traveled to a new destination called Voulhire after he inherited the fortunes of his uncle, who lived there. Will Galen find the fresh start he seeks, or what awaits him in Voulhire? Another thrilling character in this book is Lord Edus. He is the leader of Hillport, a town in Voulhire that has been haunted by the evil deeds of Lord Meldorath. Lord Edus tries to extinguish the fear and restore peace to the people of Hillport. Firstly, I liked that the storyline of this book was told from multiple perspectives, which made it satisfying. I will applaud the author for his creativity and imagination. The author did paint a vivid picture in my mind, which made me see the world in different ways. The author's writing style is good, and it really did boost my vocabulary. This book has a fascinating storyline filled with twists, humor, suspense, and actions, which made me like it more. The author really expressed all the characters perfectly. This book is the first in the We are Voulhire series. I'm definitely looking forward to reading the other series.
There is absolutely nothing to dislike about this book. This book was very engaging from the beginning till the end. The political structure of Voulhire is one thing I admired the most. It had mages, nobles, knights, and the king, which made the setting very realistic and believable. I liked that the author included a map and a glossary in this book, which helped me to get a vivid picture of the world of Voulhire and its vast characters.
I’m rating this book 4 out of 4 stars. I detected one error when reading this book. This shows that it was professionally edited. I recommend this book to lovers of sci-fi, fantasy, and adventure stories.
