The Lighthouse Duet - Carol Berg
Posted: 04 Jan 2015, 16:25
Born into a pureblood sorcerer line of cartographers and diviners, as well as a loveless family, Valen tries to hide his true nature and blend in with those of non-magical heritage as a runaway. Runaway purebloods are not permitted, and Valen is the bane of pureblood society for being a successful runaway. While the land of Navronne is in constant upheaval due to a civil war between princely brothers, Valen's own life is upturned as well. While discovering the secrets of his family and kingdom, he must decide who he can trust and what his own role will be in discovering truth from myth.
My love for Carol Berg's writing style started with this series. Berg is a fantastic writer whose every word had me hooked. I breezed through this duet very quickly. It does start out a little slow in the beginning, but it is worth sticking with the series. The world and characters that Berg creates is what any writer should strive to.
