Galen Bray was from the Land of Princes, a land that was poverty-stricken as a result of the many years of war. Galen escaped from his home and traveled to Voulhire by sea. He had made a discovery that prompted his leave. His great uncle had made him the heir to his forge in Magnum Caelum. He didn't know much about his uncle, and his uncle did not know about him either until he was on his deathbed. Galen was excited about this new world that was far from his home. He was filled with surprise when he got to Voulhire. He marveled at their civilization and level of advancement in technology. He was guided by the elders and his witty friend Rowan on how to manage his new property. Galen was beginning to fall in love with his new home. Voulhire had a lot of secrets. The past leaders wreaked havoc on the land, especially Meldorath, who was assumed dead. The new Lord, Eldus, had a lot on his hands to make the land better and get rid of the evil lurking in the dark. What does the future hold for Galen and the people of Voulhire? No one knows if the dreaded mage Meldorath is dead. What if he is waiting for the right time to take revenge?

The book is filled with suspense. The plot is completely unpredictable. There were other stories interwoven into the main story. The major themes in the book were betrayal, survival, and adventure. Galen was an interesting character. I admired his intelligence and confidence. It is not easy for a young person to flee from home to start life afresh in a new land. He took a huge risk when he escaped the war in search of a better life. I thought Lord Eldus was a good leader, and I admired his efforts to restore peace in Voulhire.

Because other mini-stories surrounded the main story, which was about Galen, the story can be quite confusing at times. Also, there were too many characters in the book, and it was hard to keep up with the names. There was nothing to dislike apart from this.

We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is an interesting book. I found the plot captivating, although it was a bit confusing. I commend the book's exceptional editing. The book had the right amount of suspense as I couldn't stop wondering what Meldorath's next action would be. I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. It deserves a perfect rating because it was well-written and I found no mistakes in it. I noticed there were more books in this series. I would love to read them too.

I recommend the book to lovers of fantasy series, science fiction novels, and adventure fiction. The book is a perfect mix of adventure, sci-fi, and war stories.
