Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
In We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies, Matthew Tysz tells a tale set in a world where magic, science, and faith rule the day and a kingdom called Voulhire is the crown jewel because it is experiencing an age of prosperity where its technology and culture are at their peak. However, the realm's jewel carries a dark history and suffers the pains of an identity crisis. As Voulhire's people try to figure out their future path, their monarch attempts to protect his throne by starting a war amongst his sons in another land. Unfortunately, it is common people who always bear the brunt of war. Starvation or death by the sword is the reality the common people face. But a young boy, Galen Bray, has a stroke of luck when he inherits a forge in the realm's jewel, Voulhire. Galen’s journey from boyhood to manhood is monumental to the fate of a great kingdom.
One of the positive aspects of the book is the author’s creativity and style. As a fun of science fiction and fantasy, I appreciate the wild imagination and innovation that goes into creating new worlds and characters. Matthew Tysz does an impressive job with We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies. The realm is fictitious but has aspects and characters reminiscent of the real world. Scenes, characters, and storylines with scientific and magical elements are captivating and stimulating. I had a good time exploring Matthew Tysz’s creative work of literature.
The literary style in the book is another positive feature. The author's use of writing tools like metaphors, similes, and adjectives is skillful. Also, several hilarious scenes soften the writing style. Additionally, the plot includes multiple perspectives and points of view that enrich the story. The only downside to the book is its slow pace, particularly in the beginning. However, I do not think this deducts from the book because the author includes several twists as the storyline progresses.
I rate We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz four out of four stars. The book has an interesting plot and storylines. The author did a good job with the research, detail, and writing style. The characters are relatable and interesting. The editing is okay but could be better because I did spot two errors.
I recommend the book to science fiction fans. I think adult supervision for readers below the age of sixteen is necessary because of the use of profanity. Otherwise, a great book full of magical adventure.
