The king had imprisoned Meldorath for an unforgivable crime. He had managed to annoy a whole nation with his actions, hence the punishments. Unknown to his people, he was plotting his escape. How can he escape from the country's most secure prison? While the buzz of Meldorath's imprisonment was still going through the people's veins, Galen arrived on a boat. This refugee was running away from war. He was relieved the moment his feet touched the sand of his new country. Galen wanted a quiet, peaceful life filled with love and good friendships. Fate would have none of that and sent him on an adventure whose end he does not know. It all started with the discovery of a unique stone rumored to have magical properties. How will it end?

We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is a part of the We are Voulhire series. It is the first book in the series. It was authored by Matthew Tysz and focused on the escapades of residents and citizens of Voulhire.

Matthew Tysz added many features that made this book unique. For example, he wrote Galen's story from Galen's perspective, and he wrote the story and the things that all the characters saw from his. He also did not chapter this novel as you would see in millions of other books. Each chapter had the name of the character it was focused on above it. I liked this particular feature because it gave me a heads-up of what to expect from that chapter. For example, the chapters with Galen's name above hinted that they focused on Galen's actions and thoughts. The ones with Meldorath's name focused on Meldorath's ordeals and activities. As I have seen, this is not the usual way a book is written, but I like that feature the most because it made me know what to expect.

I did not dislike anything I saw in the book. The storyline had a slow progression, but this allowed me to see the characters grow into their skin and dominate their respective roles. Matthew Tysz knew what he was doing when he decided to write this story this way. He did not rush to give his readers an action-packed plot just because he wanted to please the people.

We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies was edited exceptionally. I rate it 4 out of 4 stars for its perfect character development and story. I did not give it a lower rating because I honestly have no reason to do that.

People who enjoy books with science and fantasy with a complex plot should read We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies. Although We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies does not have a lot of modern-day scientific inventions, it will interest you to know that it had a good number of innovations for its time. This recommendation is also extended to readers that love magic and would love to see it in action. Be careful because We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies can get pretty addictive.
