We are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz takes the reader on a journey to a world where dark and light magic are in constant battle amid power games. The action takes place in the fictional country of Voulhire, which is only a small part of the multiverse. The story began with sudden chaos in castle Hillport when an unknown mystery man sought to meet Lord Orlin; he acted violently and nearly burned alive the guards who touched him, convincing others around him that they were dealing with magic. What is the identity of this strange man, and what does he have to do with Lord Orlin?

Three months later, this strange man, whose name was already known to the whole country, was arrested by order of the king. However, when magic is involved, getting rid of Lord Meldorath is not so easy. Galen, one of the primary and most intriguing characters, fled the violence in his own country and sought safety in Voulhire. He escaped starvation and the sword in the Lands of Princes, but he was ready to die in a foreign land because a spark of hope had awakened in him. Galen aimed to study the secrets of the world and people to determine their connection with each other. Thanks to this character, the reader uncovers many amazing secrets. Simultaneously, power games become more vicious and cruel, and people's actual goals and desires are revealed against the backdrop of the endless fight between good and evil.

I like how intricate and well-thought-out the general plot and the minor details are. There is a map at the beginning of the book that helps the reader grasp the world in which the action takes place. Voulhire has its own set of terminology and names, which are defined at the end of the book. With each chapter, we learn about the events as viewed through the eyes of different characters and gain a greater understanding of their backgrounds. This helped me to get to know the people and understand their true motivations.

The only thing I didn't enjoy about the book was the cover, which I think doesn't complement the plot and is also dull. The color blue is frequently linked with calmness, which I believe sets the wrong expectations in the reader, although it might simply be a matter of taste.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I couldn't give it anything less than a four-star because the storyline is smooth, complex, and well thought out. The names of the characters looked to be quite similar to each other at first, which was puzzling, but the confusion eventually faded, and the names became specific to Voulhire. Do not be afraid of foreign terms since they are vital components of the world in which the action takes place and demonstrate the author's thoughtfulness. We are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies is an exceptionally well-edited book since I did not notice any errors. I recommend the book to readers who like fantasy, action-packed stories. Also, people who love stories about magic will enjoy this book.

I wish that I loved "stories about magic" so I could enjoy this book. Your review is very persuasive, but this genre does not interest me.

Thanks for your interesting review. It seems the author has changed the cover. When I read it before, it features a man (Galen perhaps) standing in the dark waiting for sunlight to fill the sky. The blue tone signifies new hopes, freedom, trust, and loyalty (which he will find later) for him as he sets out for Magnum Caelum.
