Galen must go to Alcovia because Rowan told him he would get the best steel from there to use in his blacksmith shop. Instead of getting steel as he had hoped, he saw a magical piece of matter. Unknown to Galen, the single act of picking up that lump of metal tied his fate to that of Voulhire. He knew he had to travel to a faraway city to find a priest who could understand this matter's magic. His journey through Voulhire becomes a learning experience for him as Rowan tells him about the different cities they passed through and the systems of government that were operated in them. Voulhire was a beautiful kingdom. Galen saw that firsthand. However, he did not know how big the army of evildoers was growing and how soon they would strike.

We are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies belongs to a series called We are Voulhire. It has many features I like. One such feature is the arrangement of the chapters. Matthew Tysz focused on one character in each chapter. So, when a chapter had Galen's name over it, the author talked about the progress Galen had made in his adventure. When he titled a chapter after Lord Meldorath, he told us about what Lord Meldorath was up to and the havoc he was planning on causing. This has got to be a unique chaptering style. I have never seen this in a novel before. However, that is not all this book has to offer.

We are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies was also written in a way that more than 50% of the characters never met each other in this book. I feel that their paths will surely cross in time and in subsequent books (if they do not die first). It would be weird if they never met one another, seeing as they all exist in the same space and are basically part of the same story. I do not hate how each character was given their own storyline at all. This is one of the things that made this book unique and is what I liked the most about it.

In my opinion, there was one negative thing about this book. I am talking about the complete lack of a main female character. I hardly ever saw a woman or a girl in the whole story, much less one that played an active role. I do not know why Matthew Tysz chose to do this, but I found it a bit off-putting because it gave the impression that men dominated that world too. We already have enough books that prioritize male characters over other genders and do not care much about bringing female characters to the front. I only hope that Matthew Tysz does not maintain this same style throughout the series.

I might have disliked the lack of a main female character the most, but that is not enough to subtract stars from the rating of this book. I do not think the lack of the above made the book any less interesting or made the experience any less pleasant. Because of this, I rate We are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies four out of four stars. I forgot to mention that Matthew Tysz edited it exceptionally.

I have told you everything I have to say about this book except one thing. I believe you will love and enjoy the story We are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies tells if you are into fantasy fiction. It is filled with magic and things that we would consider unnatural today. That is why I recommend it to you if you are interested in fantasy stories.
