[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Presence" by L.J. Branch.]
Abigail is a civilian who doesn't know about the supernatural world, but then she meets Kat and everything changes. She is introduced to another world. Her life begins to change, and she joins them in the world of monsters in human form.
Kat is in a guild of thieves-in-training that deals with the supernatural. They recruit Alice, also known as Abigail, because of her hacking skills, using a mark, but things don't go as planned, and they begin to go sideways. Do you think everything will work out for them?
Presence: Fangs & Flasks by L.J. Branch is a very captivating story. It deals with the supernatural world that is filled with adventures and mystery. When I started reading the book, I was so sure I wasn't going to like it because of the seemingly dull start. But as I continued reading it, I was captivated by the storyline, the thrill, and the suspense. I very much enjoyed the book. I was terrified for the band of thieves' lives, especially Diamond the princess, since she's a very strong character in the royal world.
I liked how relatable the characters were and how they loved one another. I also love how disciplined they were. I liked how the characters' lives were portrayed. I liked that the characters were compassionate towards one another. Indeed, L.J. Branch did an exceptional job on the characters.
I also liked the charge of the novel. It made me want to continue reading as every chapter was fascinating. I appreciated the fact that Diamond wasn't a proud princess and didn't take advantage of the power and authority she had as a Princess in the guild. I liked that the characters were straightforward and detailed in their dealings. I like that the book showed them as an individual and also as a collective. I appreciated the fact that they enjoyed their time together when it was difficult and in trying times.
The book was nice, and there was nothing I didn't like about it. Also, I didn't find any errors in the book; it was exceptionally well edited.
The book was a good read, and I will rate it four out of four stars. I did not remove any stars because the book did not contain any negative aspects, and I was satisfied with it. The positive aspects I mentioned above also played a huge role in my rating of this book.
I recommend this book to teenagers, adults, and lovers of supernatural fiction. I believe it will also be suitable for readers who enjoy fiction in general.
