Darkness Descends

I must admit there is not enough adult fantasy movies, and Darkness Descends by Alisha Ashton is the reason why that shouldn't be. If I could give this book 10 stars I would, and can't wait until the 2nd book comes out, I'm already anticipating it, and can you believe it, this is the author's first book and she did phenomenal. Darkness Descends is about a tough, beautiful chic named Skye Faden, that has endured the worst conditions being held captive by vampires for nearly 10 years, the poor girl had been there since she was 12 and repeatedly abused. Over that length of time, some of her family were killed and turned into the very things she hated. Skye finally escapes and makes it her life's mission to kill the very things that held her captive and destroyed her family. During one of her vampire killing sprees she encounters what she thinks is another vampire and attacks only to realize it is a wolf and she is bitten. In her state of being unconscious from the bite she is saved by an Asher, which are normal people dedicated to killing vampires. In the moments she is being healed, she is befriended by ashers Miko and Aiyana and agrees for them to take her to Ireland to meet someone that can better assist her with her transformation. There Skye meets Taran, the devastatingly handsome gentleman that is supposed to her assist her in her transformation, Skye has always had trust issues, her way of thinking is that if you give her something, you must expect for something in return, so she is shocked and surprised just how quickly she trusts and falls for this stranger. After her transformation, she is considered an enigma, Skye is the first woman to survive the transformation into a wolf, and catches on to things that should've taking her centuries to learn and perfect, because after all they are immortal creatures. During this book you experience, sadness, joy, madness etc. every impossible emotion you can think of. The author takes us on a real enjoyable journey. Skye is a girl that has experienced a lot of loss and trials, only to have it all given back to her in such a different way. I like the style of the author's writing, every character and situation is well developed and also the authenticity from the location of the whole book, the language she uses, to the scenery. The mature situations are great too, its just the right amount of sexy, it doesn't take away from the book, it just fits right in. Polygamy ain't never looked so good as this author made it look. Almost makes you wonder. LOL! This book for sure should be in the theaters, I wouldn't miss it and advise others not do so either. I'm telling you it would make for one hell of a movie on the big screen. I will be the first one in line to buy my ticket. Well anyways darlings my review is over for now until the next book in this fantastic series, but this is most definitely a MUST READ!!!!
