Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is a sci-fi series, written by Matthew Tysz, that describes a world of magic and power, as well as a division of lands between four princes who plotted against their father, the Emperor of Lullabies, to usurp his kingdom and cause his hasty demise. Unfortunately, their father discovered this cunning plan and sent the four princes off to separate islands, which caused a rift and war between them and, as a result, poverty and chaos in their lands persisted for years.
One of the story's main protagonists, Galen, got caught up in this circumstance in the "Land of Princes," but his late uncle saved him by helping him move to the kingdom of Voulhire with the aid of Rowan, his executor. King Wilhelm appears to be leading the Kingdom of Voulhire to prosperity. The only problem that the Kingdom of Voulhire is currently facing is Meldorath, who was told that he was dead, but there are rumors that this is not the case. Read this amazing book to learn more about the numerous stories that remain to be revealed.
On the plus side, this book is the first in a series, which is remarkable. I liked how the narrative was written; it discussed what caused the separation in the land of princes and how Galen relocated to Magnum Caelum, Voulhire. It also discussed an extremely strong magician, Meldorath, who used magic to depose Lord Orlin of Hillport, who was known for conducting taboo experiments on young children. Meldorath was dethroned after King Wilhelm also accused him of the same crime. However, there are rumors that he wasn't actually put to death as he was purported to have been.
One of the most intriguing aspects of this book is how thoroughly it describes the backstories of each character, helping the reader to understand them much better. It was informed that Lord Eldus went to Hillport on the King's orders and that he and his wife were both successful judges. Galen was informed that he was from the "Land of Princes" and had migrated to Voulhire seeking greener pastures. Additionally, it was also exceptionally well edited, and no errors were found in the book.
I enjoyed the storyline and how tension was handled to pique the reader's interest while the book was well written in specifics. The plot was quite unusual, and I never anticipated that Lord Eldus would pass away. I kept wondering what would happen next. As a result, the story has no unfavorable aspects.
I give this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars because of the compelling plot, which is unlike any other book I've read. I particularly adore Meldorath's power play and how he brought Hillport to its knees; the author did a fantastic job setting the scene at that point. It also has a flawless editing job.
I recommend this book to readers who enjoy reading about magic, fantasy, and adventure since it offers a unique and engaging narrative that anyone would enjoy.
