We are Voulhire: A new arrival under great skies is book one of the fantasy series "we are Voulhire" written by Matthew Tysz. In the land of Hillport, in the kingdom of Voulhire, Meldorath, a former magistrate and a mage, kills Lord Orlin on accusations of perversion with the children of Hillport. Becoming the new Lord of Hillport, Meldorath is feared by its people due to his suspicious and unusual activities in the castle. Wilhelm, King of Voulhire, friend to Meldorath, orders the arrest of his friend. Keeping him on an island, king Wilhelm tells his people that Meldorath is dead. Meldorath, keeping calm and obeying the king's order, has other plans up his sleeve for the people of Hillport and their new Lord assigned after him.

Galen Bray, on the other hand, is a refugee who escapes war in the lands of princes with the help of his late uncle, who sent an executor to bring him to Magnum Caelum. Inheriting his uncle's property and work, Galen adjusts to his new life, learning how the Voulhiriians live. Acquiring steel with his executor to practice blacksmithing to continue his uncle's business, They come across an unfamiliar rock which they take along with them back to Magnum Caelum to study with the help of a monk they found at Yamon Soul.

The plot of this book is well organized. The author made each chapter a different environment with the scene of a character and their supporting characters, making the location of every character clear. He also made use of a map before the story started, shading more light on locations mentioned and described in the book.

The desire for power and to rule surfaces at the beginning of the book, with the plan of the father of four princes to go to war with each other for the right of their father's thrown. This shows the impact of war on a kingdom and its people, where some die of starvation or are killed by the sword. The effect of terrorism and destructed is well explained with the Riva Rohavi, who did not like the development of Voulhire right from when it was created. Starting their group and army, they cause the restless minds of the people hiding out of sight.

I rate this book 4 out of 4. The last chapter of the book holds details that will make the reader want to read the next book of the series. The book is well-edited with a good plot. I will recommend this book to lovers of fantasy, suspense, and young adults.
