Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is a novel by Matthew Tysz. Matthew is a young writer who explored his imagination and wrote this fantasy story.
Voulhire is currently ruled by King Wilhelm Arcolo; he lives in Soulhire, the capital city of Voulhire. You would also be introduced to various other cities of the kingdom. King Wilhelm has some close associates in the kingdom who work with him. The king also has some enemies who do not adhere to the kingdom’s policies. There is a rebellious organization called Riva Rohavi; it has been existing since the inception of Voulhire. King Wilhelm has recently appointed his judge, Eldus Alderman, as the lord of a southern town named Hillport. There is a history of Hillport. Hillport was earlier inhabited by Lord Meldorath; Meldorath is the most dreaded character in this story. You need to read this novel to know what is going to happen in the kingdom of Voulhire. There would be some significant events that would take place in the town of Hillport.
There is also another story in this novel which includes a character named Galen Bray. Galen is mentioned in the first person; I assume he is going to be an integral character in the upcoming novels in the series. He has come to Voulhire from a different land and is training as a blacksmith.
I enjoyed reading this even-paced fantasy novel with a coherent storyline. Matthew has included various elements of a fantasy story in this novel. You would come across an imagined world in this novel; this world consists of a kingdom named Voulhire. Matthew meticulously describes the locations at different points in the story; you get to know Voulhire well. This book also contains a map of Voulhire which shows the location of cities and rivers. The characters in the story fit very well; there are also mages in this story. Matthew has created some words to use in this novel. These words did not distract me as a reader, but they made this fantasy story more interesting. Matthew has provided a glossary of these words at the end of the book. I would like to talk about the last portion (around 50 pages) of this book. While reading this part of the story, I felt like watching a movie filled with action; I could not put the book down until the end. I want to read the next novel in the series; it should also tell more about the story of Galen Bray.
I rate this fantasy novel 4 out of 4 stars. I had fun reading this well-written fantasy story. I do not have anything negative to say about this story. I would surely recommend this novel to readers of fantasy stories. This book is professionally edited; I could find just one minor error.
